Subject: CSC's AAI demo for linguistics opened for test use for you

Dear CLARIN collaborators,

You should now be able to access CSC's AAI demo for linguistics, test version 2.2. on the machine from your network IP addresses that you provided.

Below you can find the detailed description of the demo, which hopefully gives you a good picture about the status of CSC's AAI project for the Language Bank of Finland.

More information about linguistic research material and software currently accessible through the Language Bank of Finland:

This is the planned starting point where the AAI demo will be linked from after the launch for end-users.

In order to access the AAI demo please enter into your browser:

We recommend that you use Mozilla Firefox as your browser. In addition to Mozilla Firefox you can now use at least Internet Explorer, Opera or Chrome as your browser.

For testing:

1. Please enter "guest" for username and password, when prompted first at the "Authentication Required" dialog box. This method of authentication mimics national IDF authentication by the home organisation, in Finland the Haka authentication. We plan to integrate the Haka authentication in the next version of the demo by the end of February.

2. The demo will ask you to fill in the CSC user account information, but you do not need to enter anything at this point, as this password verification is not being carried out here currently. If the user doesn't already have a CSC user account, we will open him/her a new CSC user account automatically when the access to the Language Bank of Finland is granted.

Language selection Finnish-English has been implemented on all pages

  • As the default language, the demo picks the language you have defined for your browser.
  • Please click "Suomeksi" or "In English" (at the top) if you want to change the language.

3. You may now select any language resource, or a combination of resources.

4. After this, you will see a "Terms & Conditions" page, for each resource you selected, to be accepted or declined. In the next version of the demo, we plan to replace the current default Terms & Conditions with real Terms & Conditions of the Language Bank of Finland.

5. The application form will then open. You will be asked to ensure there is something entered in each of the required fields.

  • If you selected a Category 2 test resource only, then the application page will not open as controlled authorization is not required for category 2 resources.
  • If you declined the required Terms & Conditions for the resource, the resource is not displayed on the application form.

6. You will then continue to the referee page. Please select a referee who knows you, and your application will be sent to him/her to be accepted or rejected. In addition to the referee, a similar authorization procedure is planned for the content provider and the language bank administrator, but they are not yet implemented.

7. A status page is displayed at the end of the application process. The status page lists the resources applied for. If you didn't accept Terms & Conditions for a particular resource, that resource is not shown.

8. CSC will inform the applicant about the decision.

Note. Basic Authentication, like Shibboleth authentication, can only be effectively logged out of by closing the browser, so to restart the process completely you will need to do this.

Once past the login the process is then in a session and expects to run to completion.

If you wish to restart before completing the process you must also delete cookies in your browser. If the session has become invalid, i.e. timed out or completed, but the browser is still open, attempting to request more resources will display page asking the user to close and restart the browser. Session timeout is configurable and has been set to 15 minutes.

The requirements documentation of this AAI demo can be found:

Please contact us if you have any issues accessing the demo, or other questions or comments.

Thanks and regards,

Satu and Seán
