  • EduGAIN connects Identity Providers exchanging SAML messages concentrating on sharing of identity data (Authentication). Kalmar2 gives access to Nordic higher education with a single login. Mikael is involved in Kalmar2 and EduGAIN development.
  • GÉANT (GN3 JRA3) project focuses on Virtual Organizations i.e. VOs (Authorization).
  • The new Kalle application form is a candidate for CLARIN (Application in the image). Daan et al. will be kept informed about the Kalle results.
  • EULAs (End User License Agreements) and permissions could be centralized or put in separate VOs.
    • Daan wished CSC could estimate the budget for developing a centralized authorization component for CLARIN. Satu answered that we may have to wait for CLARIN WP7 results to have CLARIN-wide EULAs for linguistic resources.
  • A concern about a single point failure was expressed, e.g. if the user violates the CLARIN terms of use, but uses other services in addition to CLARIN services. The Identity provider cannot close the user account. Daan suggested that perhaps a flag etc. should be developed to deny access to CLARIN services.
    • In the Kalle project, however, access can be denied by closing the CSC user account of the violating user.
  • Flexible CLARIN architecture was seen as a common goal.
