Why less drops the 8 bit letters such as , ? I use the Bash shell and access the Corpus via PuTTY? from my Windows workstation. The national characters , , ... show normally on the shell window, in character mode Emacs and More, but not in Less. -- KimmoKoskenniemi - 05 May 2006 - 09:44

The problem lies in the locale settings of the less utility. We do not have any anwers yet.

Have you tried setting your LESSCHARSET environment variable to latin1 (or utf-8)?
