Festoon as a Meeting Tool

Festoon is a tool for video meetings, desktop sharing and voice calls. It is integrated into Skype to replace Skype Video.

  1. Go to http://www.festooninc.com/.
  2. Enter your e-mail address and click Download.
  3. Run the installation.

Skype has to be installed and running and the desired contacts included in it. Festoon needs the permission to use Skype. See the Skype page for more information on its setup and use, including how to add contacts.

  1. Click the Festoon icon on your system tray.
  2. Select the contacts you wish to include in the conference and press Start Call.

Receiving a call

  1. A Skype chat window pops up.
  2. If you have Festoon installed, click the I have Festoon on this computer link. Otherwise, click the I need to get Festoon on this computer link and follow the instructions.

Desktop sharing is used to allow the other participants of the meeting to see the contents of your screen. You can either choose to share single programs (i.e. your presentation) or your entire desktop. One person at a time can broadcast one such object to be viewed by the others.

  1. While in a meeting, in the Sharing menu, choose the application you want to share.

  1. A window titled Presentation by [contact] pops up automatically.
  2. If it does not, choose View [contact]'s Presentation in Festoon's Sharing menu.
