Final Meeting of the Course

The closing seminar of the machine translation course will be held next Wednesday, 10 January 2007. The location is the T2 lecture hall in the Computer Science building.

The program is as follows:

13.15 - 13.20 Opening of the seminar.

13.20 - 14.50 The groups present their systems. Thirty minutes are reserved for each group, including questions and discussion. Each group is allowed to submit results from three different systems at the most.

14.50 - 15.20 Evaluation of the systems. Possibly, attempts to some qualitive analysis will be made, but the winning system will be selected quantitatively based on the BLEU score. The teams get to pick their prizes, which will be handed over by representatives of the companies.

The Swedish translations of the Finnish test data must be submitted to mathias.creutz@tkk.fi by Sunday, 7 January 2007.

Brief reports are to be handed in at the seminar on Wednesday. The reports do not need to be full scientific papers describing the background, motivation, and evaluation of the system, but you need to outline how your systems work, i.e., what stages there are in the translation process and what methods and resources (software, data sets) are involved.

Welcome,

Timo and Mathias
